An exciting role has arisen in Jumeirah Development department for a highly motivated and hard working individual. The main purpose of this position is to coordinate the effective operation of the Design Department in coordination with the Technical Services Department to ensure that hotel and resort projects are delivered to the operational team in a timely and professional manner. You will provide assistance to the owner’s Project/Development Team specifically for design in line with the Technical Services Agreement and to ensure the operational requirements for design are properly considered throughout the stages of the project development.
You Main Duties Will Be
General
Assist in site appraisal and design assessment of potential new projects.
Recommend project consultants with particular regards to Master Planners, Architects, Interior Designers and Landscape Architects.
Assist with the preparation of design briefs as required.
Assist the Owner to establish the “Area Programme” for the hotel which shall meet JIG standards. The Programme Plan shall consist of the definitive outline description of the hotel including the space allocation and the relevant standards and design criteria for the specific hotel.
Liaise with the Owner’s Management Team in relation to the specific project planning, design and material specifications.
Ensure that Jumeirah Design Guidelines are implemented throughout the design process of each of the assigned projects.
Ensure Jumeirah Stay Different™ and Venu policies are continually adhered to throughout the design process.
Ensure that the design aspect of the project is appropriate and going in the right direction with the usage of the most recent and innovative design methods.
Create regular assessments and reporting of current project design developments and ways to address any concerns if any.
Assist in the development and implementation of design standards in regards to brand image, brand identity and brand standards.
Assist and advise the consultants during the design process in order to achieve higher design standards.
Liaise and coordinate with Jumeirah Technical Services team and other related Jumeirah specialists during design development.
Represent Jumeirah during client and consultant meetings.
Manage or assist in any potential internal or external exhibition as required.
Assist in any hotel refurbishment project and provide design guidance throughout the process.
Administrational
Compile a weekly report updating the Head of Department about the assigned projects.
Ensure that proper record is kept of all project procedure and documentation.
Expand the design library and project consultants list on regular basis.
Ensure that accountability and control is maintained in expenditure for travel and disbursements.
Attend the weekly one-to-one meeting with the Vice President Development – Design.
Attend the Technical Services Department weekly meeting.
Attend the periodical Development Department meeting.
Quality
Demonstrate commitment to the development and implementation of the Quality Management System and the continual effectiveness of the same
Ensure appropriate communication processes are in place
Demonstrate continued professional development through research of current design trends and future design directions
Exhibit continued research and meeting with hospitality consultants in order to update the recommended consultants list and follow up on their latest involvement in the hospitality industry
Be appraised of latest industry’s best practices, innovation, trends and materials
Incorporate continuous updates on the best practices and appropriate application of sustainable design to ensure buildings comply with published standards for the hotel
Maintain an understanding of sustainable construction and building management as required for Green building certification systems such as LEED or BREEAM
Operational
Coordinate internal meetings as necessary to effectively control the design progress of the assigned projects.
In coordination with the Technical Services team, brief Regional operative team and General Managers on project scope, design intent and operational concepts.
