The Project Management Office (PMO) is the centralized management structure for the UASC Transformation Project, conducted with the assistance of an external consulting firm.

Job Purpose:
- The PMO reports to the Steering Committee of the Project, comprised of members of UASC’s Board of Directors and senior partner representation from the external consultants.The PMO is responsible for the governance and implementation of the Project, the activities of which are grouped under 14 functional work streams, encompassing almost all areas within the organization.

- The candidate will broadly support the overall governance activities of the PMO, as well as be assigned to one or more of the functional work streams to drive and support high quality, timely and on-budget delivery of the various activities under the module(s).
- The candidate must comprehend and articulate the context and deliverables of these activities and is responsible for planning, development, capacity building, launching and institutionalization of procedures and programs within the organization to ensure lasting impact of the Project.Post Project implementation, longer term positions may be available to candidates who have met and exceeded the expectations of the organization in their implementation roles.

Key Accountabilities:


- Establish and implement project methodologies and appropriate tracking and monitoring
- Provide a framework to establish standard performance measures based on organizational goals and objectives
- Provide analytical and functional support to work stream leaders as required including drawing upon previous experience in PMO and/or industry situations
- Counsel and guide PMO activity work stream leads, proactively identify areas of underperformance and initiate corrective actions where required
- Conduct root cause analysis and establish reasons for variances in performance compared to expectations including financial performance, operating performance, process issues, etc.
- Support overall governance of the PMO, including monitoring and alignment of activities across work streams to ensure maximum efficiency of the Project execution
- Report on progress and results of the Project activities, and communicate/present same to the PMO and Executive Management as required.
Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor degree from an internationally accredited university
- MBA from an internationally accredited university is a distinct advantage
- Ten years of overall work experience
- Two years of experience in the transportation, shipping, logistics sector(s), or demonstration of indepth understanding of the container shipping industry
- Experience in container liner shipping is a distinct advantage
- Experience with a recognized liner shipping or a management consulting firm is an advantage
- Experience in consulting (external or internal) and project management
- Experience in the Middle East is a distinct advantage

Knowledge and Skills:

- Fluent written and spoken English
- Fluent written and spoken Arabic is a distinct advantage
- Excellent project management skills
- Strong analytical skills and Inter-personal skills
- Negotiation and communication skills
