Job Description
The Director of Engineering is responsible for the overall operation of hotel facilities and maintenance, which includes overseeing: building structure, all mechanical and electrical equipment systems, and related maintenance in accordance with standards and quality programs. While leading the engineering team, this position is also responsible for recommending the department's budget/capital expenditures and managing expenses.

MINIMUM (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES & TRAVEL)
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a college or university, or any other combination of education, training or experience applicable to position.
5 years Engineering and Hospitality Management industry experience required.
Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external Guests and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
SKILLS (LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL, TECHNICAL & REASONING)
Must possess strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing.
Must have thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical equipment (such as chillers, boilers, water treatment and refrigeration), plumbing and electrical systems (including power, water and gas).
Must have experience in audio visual systems, office procedures, material ordering, data tracking systems, applicable safety and building laws, construction and blueprint reading.
Must have overall knowledge of occupational safety and sanitation laws.
Ability to perform complex quantitative calculations or reasoning using algebra, geometry, statistics or abstract symbols.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests/customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Use logic to define problem, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information and deal with abstract variables for unique or unfamiliar situations.
Comprehend and use technical or professional language, either written or spoken, to communicate complex ideas.
Multiple language abilities preferred, fluency in English required.
Must possess excellent computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Office.


Hard Rock Limited has been engaged as the manager for the above-referenced property pursuant to a management agreement with Marina 101 Hotel OPCO Limited (“Owner”). Applicants acknowledge that the employing entity will be the Owner, and Hard Rock Limited is managing this process on behalf of the Owner in accordance with the management agreement.

BUSINESS RESULTS
Ensure high operational up time for hotel equipment by maintaining effective preventative maintenance schedule and timely resolution of work orders.
Conduct daily hotel property walk-throughs to proactively assess the safety and efficiency of facilities and maintenance operations, physical structure, mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems, and any other related equipment.
Develop and execute all hotel preventative maintenance programs and maintain effective programs for energy efficiency.
Oversee completion of all routine maintenance on public space, function space, outlets, back of house areas and external space and verify completion of repairs, replacement and renovations throughout the hotel property.
Establish and maintain par levels for all tools and equipment to allow for immediate correction of maintenance issues and reduce down time.
Participate in the budget and capital plan development. Monitor cost reports for department on an ongoing basis.
Oversee procedural aspects of the hotel's engineering and facilities department.
LEADERSHIP & EXECUTION
Communicate regularly with General Manager and Executive Committee regarding maintenance issues, new procedures, liability concerns, cost efficiency systems or other hotel business.
Ensure physical property and services comply with regulations regarding safety, security and hotel quality standards.
Establish and oversee property emergency and applicable safety programs, in accordance with required laws.
Manage all hotel projects related to construction, renovation, facility repair, decoration and capital expenditures.
Work with local building code officials when required.
Operate ethically to protect the image of Hard Rock and utilize programs designed to help Save the Planet.
GUEST ENGAGEMENT
Communicate with all departments to ensure any and all Guest and/or special group needs are met.
Resolve Guest complaints and implement change to prevent future issues.
Inspect product (rooms, outlets, amentities) to ensure adherance to standards.
Work as a team, helping all employees to complete the required activities that ensure we blow away Guest expectations. Always smile and offer a warm greeting to all.
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Select, hire, train, supervise, coach and counsel Engineering staff.
Participate in the induction of new staff members to Hard Rock culture. Know, understand, and practice (with energy and enthusiasm) the mission, values, mottos, culture and spirit that make Hard Rock Hotels unique.
Ensure employees follow safety, sanitation and security procedures.
Conduct meetings with staff to communicate projects, implement new products and procedures, and discuss areas of opportunities and special events.
Create a positive environment in which all employees have the ability to maximize their potential.
Ensure service provided to both internal departments and external Guests is conducted with the same high level of care and urgency.
LEARNING & APPLYING EXPERTISE
Review contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions with vendors, consultants, clients, suppliers and contractors.
Oversee and monitor projects to ensure compliance with standards, building and safety codes, and any other regulations. Communicate project plans and contract terms to staff.
Investigate safety issues by interviewing those involved in the accident/incident to determine causes and recommend solutions.
Conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.
