Business Finance Manager - Wholesale Banking MENA - Standard Chartered Bank - Dubai


Job Description

We are seeking a Business Finance Manager for our Wholesale Banking MENA team. The role is a new position based in Dubai. This is a business facing finance role working in the technical but interesting area of wholesale banking finance.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

•Providing strong Finance Support to the WB Business. 
•Develop report & monitor both leading & lagging financial and non-financial key performance indicators for WB and its constituent businesses. 
•Monitor implementation of strategy, objectives & budget for WB. 
•Assist in developing robust business plans for WB and provide management with the information necessary to monitor performance against these plans. 
•Ensure compliance and implementation of Group standards & policies. 
•Ensure all regulatory & financial control requirements are met. 
•Network & liaise with key partners in Finance & WB. 
Performance Reporting & Analysis 
•Provide objective and analytical insight into WB business performance, highlighting areas of risks and opportunities for the business. 
•Provide strong financial support and value to the WB Business. 
•Serve as decision making support unit to the WB business and supporting strategic direction and development for WB. 
•Contribute to the development of new business initiatives. 
•To provide finance support on WB customer data MIS and investigation issues. 
•To provide control and review support on WB cost centres and coordinate cost forecast management and budgeting. 
•To provide maximum support and assistance to the businesses in understanding and controlling their costs. 
•Provide strong analytics & inputs on the RWA Management which optimises the return on RWA. 
•Co-ordinate and manage WB finance communication and process with all departments including Sales, Operations, Credit Risk, Country Finance and Group Finance 
•Management reporting process for WB performance within agreed Group or Regional deadlines 
•Work closely with the Global WB Finance teams, to migrate best practices and implement Group's standard practices into WB. 
•Coordinating with Country Finance and CB Finance on issues relating to FCP ,budgets, forecasts, accruals, etc 
•Coordinating with FSSC Chennai for all WB reporting and MIS issues. 
Financial Controls and Compliance 
•Ensure compliance of Wholesale banking products to Group Accounting Policy. 
•Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reporting processes are robust and financial controls are in place to prevent accounting errors and inaccuracies. 
•Assist Operations and Transaction Processing System owners to develop robust processes & ensure effective escalation for appropriate action, where necessary. 
•Ensure new and existing Product Programmes have clear accounting entries and RIWAC guidelines. 
•Ensure timely and accurate reporting for all internal and external reporting, e.g. Business Flash, Management Results, Forecasts, etc. 
•Ensure cost accruals are made in line with financial control policy and tracking of accruals. 
•Ensure adherence to the risk management framework in identifying, controlling, monitoring and reporting of risk. 
•Ensure KCSA checks are carried out adequately and in timely manner 
•Comply with Money Laundering Prevention Procedures and the Code of Conduct. Be alert at all times to unusual or possibly suspicious customer activity, and must report promptly any such activity to the Country MLPO

Qualifications & Skills

You will be a finance degree holder from a recognised institution. It is preferable that you are a qualified chartered accountant or are studying towards qualification. You must have solid experience within the finance function of a bank. A strong understanding of wholesale banking financial products is required as is experience in financial/management reporting and performance management.
