Qatar Petroleum are looking for a Energy Policy Analyst - Energy & Environment

The Planning and Energy Policy Directorate of Qatar Petroleum is responsible for the development and implementation of energy industry strategy both for Qatar Petroleum and the State of Qatar as well as leading the investigation and development of 'new energy' businesses. As the Senior Energy Policy Analyst you will play a lead role in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Strategy for the Ministry of Energy & Industry. You will play a key role in the development of national policies and international positions through the provision of expert advice on the interface between energy and environmental issues. You will be Play a key role in developing national positions on issues arising form forums such as the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol and other Multilateral Environmental Agreements. In addition, you will conduct expert analysis of issues in the energy and environmental field and identify emerging issues with the potential to impact QP and the State of Qatar.

Person Specification

• University Degree in Economics, Environmental Sciences, Business or Environmental Engineering, preferably with post-graduate qualifications.
• You will have significant experience in the field of economics, environmental science, environmental policy or international business, preferably with exposure to the oil and gas industry (but might be less if the candidate has a combination of industry and senior level experience that is exceptionally well matched to the position requirements).
• Ability to formulate national positions within the context of international environmental negotiations and agreements.
• Firm understanding of the international energy landscape and the role that environmental issues will play in shaping this landscape in the future.
• A good understanding of alternative energy technologies, the policies used to promote these technologies and the impact of these technologies on fossil fuels markets.
• The ability to formulate and review research and development initiatives within the energy sector.
• The ability to effectively communicate complex energy and environmental issues to high-level audiences (including Ministers and Directors).
• Good personal management skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Must have the ability to convey highly technical concepts and ideas to a non-technical audience.

Salary & Package

QP offers competitive Tax free salary and remuneration package. Terms of Employment include 6 weeks leave per annum, travel to home country, comprehensive health cover, accommodation and schooling allowances.
