Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director - Group Sanctions, the main responsibilities include supporting the business areas covering the sanctions monitoring activities for the group and ensure that efforts are made to align the related policies and procedures with regulatory requirements and applicable laws and regulations.

TASKS
Support the Executive Director of Group Sanctions as follows:
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the framework and plan for the Compliance and Sanctions that properly addresses the Compliance needs and requirements of the related divisions in line with laws, rules and regulations that best meets the needs of Group NBAD.
Assist in the implementation and execution of a Risk-Based Compliance programme built in reference to regulations, policies and procedures that will provide assurance of compliant and non-compliant activities across the related business divisions.


Manage the assessment of compliance risks for new products/changes to product profile
Make necessary updates to the Sanctions compliance monitoring program from time to time to reflect changes to the risk profile of the Bank
Manage special projects relating to Sanctions as directed by the Executive Director-Group Sanctions
Assist in monitoring the accurate, timely and effective development of assurance reports from the respective team in addition to the timely implementation of remedial actions raised by audit or regulators.
Conduct Enterprise wide Risk assessment on Sanctions & AML and other compliance related areas, and co-ordinate with other units within Compliance to conduct Fraud and Bribery risk assessments, follow-up on the implementation of respective response plans and provide updates to key stakeholders
As a second line of defense, assist the business in conducting Sanctions transaction monitoring.
Assist in the execution of the Compliance training for the related divisions across the Group to assist in building and leveraging the businesses knowledge of their activities and related Sanctions risks.
Maintain and build an effective relationship with the related divisions so that effective escalation of issues is achieved and risk managed.
Assist in providing timely and accurate Compliance advice on any Sanctions monitoring matters raised by the business functions on day-day operations or on any critical regulatory obligations to ensure continued expertise is provided to the business functions.
Keep abreast of related rules, regulations and best practices pertaining to Sanctions, assess its impact on NBAD and update the business functions accordingly.
Execute other duties as directed by the Executive Director- Sanctions


Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Management, Banking or Finance, preferably with certification in compliance, AML, risk management or internal audit.
At least 5 years of business experience preferably in Compliance and/or Audit in Banks
Excellent understanding of regional laws and applicable international regulations
Excellent Knowledge of the AML/CTF and Sanction applied on different business banking functions.
Excellent project management skills with strong control
Strong interpersonal, people management and facilitation skills
Ability to generate ideas, think creatively, develop innovative solutions and build effective business relationships quickly
Team player, able to meet tight deadlines and manage challenging workload
Preferable bilingual, Fluent in English and Arabic with strong written and verbal skills
Focused on driving tasks to completion with pace, whilst retaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Discrete and has sense for integrity and handles highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
